Tom Petty was going to give this song to Stevie Nicks but he liked it so much he kept it for his album Hard Promises. He gave Stevie Nicks the song Stop Draggin MY Heart Around. On his Pack Up The Plantation tour, when this song starts and Stevie comes out on stage the place goes Balisstic.

The thematic element of this entire album is brilliant. I concur wholeheartedly with jl- this song and album is getting me through a divorce. "Echo" has a very similar feel as "Hard Promises". Have seen TP 3 times. Wish it was 300...
