This song was originally called "Die". If you sing it to yourself, but say die instead of shine, then the song makes more sense. No joke.

FYI the word "Shine" was originally written as "Die" but her record company made her change it.
She originally wrote this song about a friend who committed suicide. Re-read the lyrics and it makes so much more sense.
It makes it much more beautiful and poignant.
