Situation Lyrics
Artist: Yaz
Album: Upstairs at Eric's
blue eyed dressed for every situation
moving through the doorway of a nation
pick me up and shake the doubt
baby i can't do without
chorus
move out, don't mess around
move out, you bring me down
move out, how you get about
don't make a sound just move out
i remember only for an hour
move right through me can you feel the power
i don't know what's going on
it scares me but it won't take long
repeat chorus
now he's in control he is my lover
nations stand against him he's your brother
been a long time, been a long time now
i'll get to you somehow
repeat chorus

Comments/Interpretations
"it scares me but it won't take long" should be "it scares me but it won't be long."
This song RULLES!!!!!! I love it so much I listen to every day at least twice. Trying to memorize lyrics.
this song was best used in the gay boys car in the motion picture the rules of attraction
I'm having trouble interpreting what this song really means. Just as I said this the 'dumb test' popped up. lol
Does someone have a bit more insight to the actual meaning of the song?
....i always thought the first line was "new address for every situation."
I think it has too do with Politics
This song was great. I was a big fan of Yaz back in the 80's.
I thought the first like was " you know I dress for every situation". weird.
This song is most defintitley one of my all time favs! It's great, and I love the catchy beat! You can resist the head-bop to this song! :)
AWSOME SONG!! DID,NT KNOW SOMEBODY STILL HAD IT = THE INTERNET IS THE GREATEST HUMAN CREATION!!
IMO the lyrics dont mean anything its all up to the individual and your own interpretation. For instance for me, the lyrics mean this: as soon as you have got the beat matched, the bass takes over and the keys hit you...like saying as soon as you understand them they change, like a dance move that makes you spin and rotate..it doesnt mean anything really really deep...like its not about life, its about a moment..a moment where life is suspended in change..and we all need change...metamorphosis;.. and true that: even feelings can change. See? Nailed that, but then: m-o-v-e o-ut (move out!)..etc etc etc...:)
First, the first line is 'Do I dress for every situation'. Second, the song is a about a person with latent homosexual tendencies.
Dear Truth... it is blue eyed dressed for every situation. Where do you get that it is about latent homosexual tendencies, other than the popularity it enjoyed in gay community in 80's? I have followed this band's career since the 80s and you do not have a clue.
Even though the truth has his head up his own ars, it was a real LOL!
I never knew what the lyrics were. I was too busy dancing. But now that I do, its like they are talking about two different subjects. Oh well, I'll just keep on dancing.
The lyrics are actually words that mean what the artist intended at the time. So, feel free to re-interpret, but in general, they mean what they mean (this, of course, can be discussed ad nauseum in a class somewhere)
If you don't take lyrics at their face value, then hey, apparently you cannot believe anyone's statements about anything because you could, of course, reinterpret them due to your vast wisdom.
Guys! This WAS NOT performed by Yaz. She did The Only Way Is Up. The performers were YAZOO (Alison Moyet & Vince Clarke), the duo formed by Clarke after he left Depeche Mode and before he formed Erasure. You can now find the track on Alison Moyet's greatest hits album, Singles... Please correct the mistake. I'm a proud Essex Boy and live near Basildon & Southend On Sea where they came from...
Move out "of the closet"
"Nations stand against him, he's your brother" (homophobia is all over the world; also an allusion to apocalyptic vision of prophecies of Daniel: all nations will stand against Israel +
He's your brother, again Daniel:
"fight every one against his brother" In other words it's evil to use religion to create prejudice against gays, and the evil is on the level of the Antichrist, tricking people into thinking they are being righteous when they are actually doing the work of Satan by turning brother against brother. That's the message I get.
It's all about drugs, trying to kick he habit.
The groups name is Yazoo in the UK, but that name was taken in the USA by another band. They went by Yaz here.
I don't hear "don't make a sound move out" I hear "don't make sense move out". I also makes more sense with the phrase before.
What the hell is a "Blue-eyed dress"?
Whereas, "Do I dress...?" makes more sense, implying that she's prepared for whatever situation life throws at her.
"Blue eyed" symbolic for spiritual protection. "Doorway" symbolic for release of liberation. "Move right through me" symbolic for the "god universe" basically Lucifer taking control. "Move out" stated 6 times in the chorus is symbolic of the devil. Song speaks to moving out of the residence of who is considered to be bringing you down. Biblically speaking it is a rejection of God and the love for sin and the devil. The group Yazoo and Depeche Mode recorded their album in a run down church called Blackwing studios. Hints around their involvement in the occult.
