Tempus Fugit Lyrics
Artist: Yes
Album: Drama
Born in the night
She would run like a leopard
That freaks at the sight
Of a mind close beside herself
And the nearer I came
How the country would change
She was using the landscape
To hide herself.
More in the mind
Than the body this feeling
A sense at the end
Of a circular line
That is drawn at an angle
I see when I'm with you
To navigate waters and finally answer to-yes.
If you were there you would want to be near me
Innocence, you could hold all the materials
And though nothing would really be living
It would shock Your fall into landing light
In the north sky time flies fast to the morning
The cold of the dawn it meant nothing to us
You were keeping your best situation
An answer to-yes
(Yes, Yes) And the moment I see you
(Yes, Yes) It's so good to be near you
(Yes, Yes) And the feeling you give me
(Yes, Yes) Makes me want to be with you
(Yes, Yes) From the moment you tell me - yes
If you could see all the roads I have travelled
Towards some unusable last equilibrium
Run like an athlete and die like a dead beaten speed-freak
An answer to all of your answers to-yes
In the north sky time flies faster than morning
The cold of the dawn it meant nothing to us
You were keeping your best situation
An answer to Yes
(Yes, Yes) And the moment I see you
(Yes, Yes) It's so good to be near you
(Yes, Yes) And the feeling you give me
(Yes, Yes) Makes me want to be with you
(Yes, Yes) If we wait for an answer
(Yes, Yes) Will the silence be broken
(Yes, Yes) Should we wait for an answer
(Yes, Yes) Do we leave it unspoken
(Yes Yes Yes Yes . . .)

Comments/Interpretations
Such a bad ass song!!!!
SUCH A GOOD SONG!!!!
I like how they managed to sneak their own band name into the lyrics so nicely.
I am surprised this song didn't chart like Roundabout...it's got such rhythm.
It's amazing how Trevor Horn can hit those high notes and can sound reminscent of Jon Anderson! And Geoff Downes' keyboard stylings sound so much like Rick Wakeman's stylngs... but let's be honest... Geoff Downes' keyboards are WAY better! :)
IF you want to freakout a salesman in a audio section of a store, take this song and turn it UP! One of the best BASS Riff's ever...
One of my favorite Yes songs of all time, from the worst Yes line up of all time.
Shows what you know about Yes, Stealth. Patrick Moraz was a far worse fit than Trevor and Geoff were. Taken in its entirety, Drama was one of the best albums Yes ever did, largely because of the contributions of the Buggles boys.
To me, this is kind of like Yes's theme song.
I was in high school in the early 1980's...How did this song and album, completely miss me ??? I discovered Tempis Fugit for the first time today - and man, does it rock ! Love it !
This whole album Drama was really a masterpiece. As a DIE HARD Yes fan when it came out I was reluctant to listen but it became quickly one of y favorites and still is. I actually use this song in Spin classes I teach and people love it and ask about it!
