She's Not There Lyrics
Artist: Zombie
Album: Zombie Heaven
Well no one told me about her the way she lied
Well no one told me about her how many people cried
But it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know why should I care
Please don't bother tryin' to find her
She's not there
Well let me tell you 'bout the way she looked
The way she'd act and the colour of her hair
Her voice was soft and cool
Her eyes were clear and bright
But she's not there
Well no one told me about her, what could I do
Well no one told me about her, though they all knew
But it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know, why should I care
Please don't bother tryin' to find her
She's not there
Well let me tell you 'bout the way she looked
The way she'd act and the colour of her hair
Her voice was soft and cool
Her eyes were clear and bright
But she's not there
------ electric piano ------
But it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know, why should I care
Please don't bother tryin' to find her
She's not there
Well let me tell you 'bout the way she looked
The way she'd act and the colour of her hair
Her voice was soft and cool
Her eyes were clear and bright
But she's not there

Should be The Zombies, not Rob Zombie. Slight difference there.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!YEAH!!~!
This is a cover from Santana
one of the greatest rock&roll song ever...
I'm playing this in marching band!!!
I think Rod Argent wrote this about
my girl friend, Micki....
And please,cynon, you are joking,
si?
La version de Santana es mejor.me hace recordar a corolina
Hi just one question about everyones interpretation of the lyrics. The "she is not there" part is it refering that the girl doesnt exist, or that he made her dissapear? or something else?
I think when he says "She's not there," he means she's not a real person--that she doesn't have a heart or a soul. He starts off saying she lied, she made many people cry. Still, he's fascinated, he wants to tell us all about her, about how genuine and beautiful he found her. But he knows even so she is trouble--"don't bother trying to find her" he says.
YEAH MAN ESTA PINCHE ROLA SI K LOKEA CHULA LETRA VALE PUES SUDOS PAZ. FELIZ CUMPLE CHAPARRITA!!!!!
It's "The Zombies", not just "Zombie"...
Love this song!
... omg i played this song on my psp for rock band... and wow i played it so many times. love this song...
There is a great cover by "The Cruel Sea" which was featured in the movies Boys(1996) starring Winona Ryder and Lucas Haas..
Absolutely love this song..
Carly IS exactly correct
My favourite song...He's singing about me...hehehe.
LOVE the SANTANA version though, especially the intro!!!
I love this song it's classic... The Zombies rock my balls
this song is so fun i like it a lot
ya i think hes like saying this girl is so awesome and fascinating at first but once you get past her good looks and cool appearance there is nothing, she is completely transparent, fried(maybe drugs had part it was the 60's), and heartless
very acid psychedelic song, to sing in the shower
Ever since I first heard this song in 1964 I've thought the lyric, "The way she'd act and the color of her hair" was "The way she had dyed the color of her hair." Thanks for clearing this up.
Brilliant song. Absolutely brilliant.
Ha, I guess Glee is good for finding cool music...
After a short romance with BPD this year, I'm pretty sure that is what this song is all about. She acted out, her friends knew, but none of them told me and its dangerous to try to find her. How would I know.
One of the very best of the 60's! The Zombies deserve much more attention than they have received. They opened new doors in music! That's not easy to do.
I think I got it all wrong... I always thought this was a song about a zombie girl (maybe the name of the band distracted me) but couldn't it be like:
Well no one told me about her the way she LAID ?
but then she's not there anymore, that's why all of those people cried... dunno, it would also explain why the performed it at GLEE, as zombies :/
I think I got it all wrong... I always thought this was a song about a zombie girl (maybe the name of the band distracted me) but couldn't it be like:
Well no one told me about her the way she LAID ? as inside her grave?
and all of those people that cried were her relatives at her funeral. and no one had told him about her death but now she's not burryied anymore (zooombie)
dunno, it would also explain why the performed it at GLEE, as zombies :/
Okay, just for Rameses and Carly, "She's not there isn't complicated if you're from that time. It was an expression. Sometimes someone is there and sometimes they're not. If you were bumming out, and someone gave you a little TLC they were there for you. If they didn't gave a rat's patoot about you they weren't there. She, whoever she was, was one of those usey kind of self centered people (like people today), so she definately wasn't there.
I always thought it was, "The way she had to have the colour of her hair."
I herd this song on Glee and I'm hooked on it because it is so much fun to sing
a) it's not rock; it's pop
b) monster, try sleeping regular hours and maybe you won't talk such sh*t.
AWESOME SONG
'For many a day she was there and then one day, I realized it was all a dream. She was not there any more...'Sure enough, I had this experience. That is why I like this song even after three decades.
el cover de santana no me gusta.... me gusta más el cover que le hace Polo, el de Los Apson
"ella no está ahí"
There is a totally awesomesauce cover of this on the tv show Glee :)
"She's not there" means she has gone, done a runner, left him, given him the elbow.
She had a good time with him for a while, and has now moved on to someone else, presumably in a different area.
That's life, suckers!
Given they're called "The Zombies" maybe it means her eyes and everything about her looks the same: but she's not there. She's undead now :P no soul...
my favorite song! i love it!!!
i thought he killed her, you know because he maybe liked her in the begining but then he realizes shes not good and kills her or smthing and thats why shes not there and thts why all the people cries
I think she has Borderline personality disorder and cannot feel empathy
She talks a good game but just is not there
Wow! My favorite song!
I'm pretty sure that the song is about what the singer thought to be a great girl who probably went behind his back and did something horrible to him, like cheat on him. She has cheated, or has done whatever repeated times to other guys/people in the past, and all of the girl's friends, and maybe some of the singer's friends knew of her past deeds, but no one warned him: "No one told me about the way she lied. Well no one told me about how many people cried." When she did whatever to him, he was stunned. The "great" girl he thought he knew is now gone from his life physically. The lyrics realize that she never even existed, and there's no reason to "search for her." "She's not there."
I looked up the lyrics to this song after my lovely little Sheltie died recently - I came in the house the first time and I remembered these words from the song, something about the color of her hair (my dog had beautiful sable fur), and the way she looked (she was beautiful), and then....SHE'S NOT THERE. I totally had forgotton all the parts of the song about her lying, etc.
I lost my love to awful circumstances. This song tore me up for years and years. To me, she's not there means she is gone from my life and cannot be found again. The other interpretation is that her essential self, or personhood, is not available. I am now age 70.
This is a great song. I first heard it on the golden oldie picture show when I was a kid in the 80s and loved it ever since. It's obviously about a guy who was in love with a beautiful woman but nobody told her that she liked to cheat and had done it numerous times. Now the girls gone and he's saying don't bother trying to find her. Oh and glee never do good covers they just take songs and make a mess of them
You're breaking my heart! :(
cynon, Santana's version was the cover...
thank you very much the zombies for another great song i have made so many mistakes in the past and also i did love ian ellingham sorry but i do but i will miss you .
I think it is a song about a woman who is drugged out.
Saw him sing it last night...
Vietnam veteran in 1968 my one and only love sent me a letter Dear John I have found someone else and she was not there for me ever again. To this day I will always love her and the color of her long hair.
I am with Jack. The song is about a 60s acid/drug casualty. Looks fine, but no mind left. I am from that generation and lifestyle and I'm quite sure that's what it's about (especially since I met people like that back then)...
Suppose that one of the reasons for the songs enduring popularity is that they lyrics can be interpreted to fit, that is to help differing life experiences. In my case it is that my first girlfriend of so long ago, and my present girlfriend have each been diagnosed by professional psychiatrists as having serious personality disorders and thus when the man who loves them keeps on trying to reach them, to love them he/I keeps on finding out that the girl "Is not there", that the attempt at a loving relationship is pain and is hopeless. The song helps me know that I am not alone, not the only one to suffer from the reality that sometimes: "She's not there."
She left him he tried to her back but she's not there
