My mum was taught this song by a nurse in 1935,when she was in hospital with scarlet fever,aged nine,in joyce green hospital,dartford.The nurse had been to see the film Top hat with her boyfriend and sang to some of the girls in the ward.Mum is still alive,but suffers from dementia,she loves this song and cries if we play or sing it to her.

I'm 36 and my mom and I used to sing this song back when I was about 4 years old. I now have 2 kids of my own and it was the first song that I sang to both my daughter and now my son. Brings tears to my eyes everytime.
