Woodpecker Song Lyrics
Artist: Glenn Miller
The Woodpecker Song
Glenn Miller
(Reginella Campagnola)
(E. Di Lazzaro)
He's up each morning bright and early
To wake up all the neighborhood
To bring to ev'ry boy and girlie
His happy serenade on wood.
Hear him pickin' out a melody
Peck, peck, peckin' at the same old tree.
He's as happy as a bumble bee
All day long.
To serenade your lady
Just find a tree that's shady
And when you hear that tick-a-tick-tick, tick-a-tick-tick
Sing right along.
Come on and try his rhythm
And let your hearts beat with 'im
Just listen to that tick-a-tick-tick, tick-a-tick-tick
Happy little Woodpecker Song.

Thank you for the words, I'm 80 years old and I was just thinking
about singing that song while we
would be riding along in the car
going on a vacation. I remembered
most of the words but was happy
to find it here. Thank you.
My son needed this song to be sung in school. I could not recollect the words. I am glad to have foudn them here. Thank You Very Much.
My mom sang this to us as kids. Now our kids are having babies and they want to sing it to thew little ones. My mom passed and I couldn't remember all the words. Thank you so much for completing the memory for us.

My mom who was born in 1933 used to sing this to me when I was a child to wake me up for school in the morning. I just gave birth to a little girl and I wanted to make sure that I had the words correctly so that i could sing it to my daughter Alicia. My mother passed away back in 2000 and so Iam sure that she would be happy to know that the song she sang to me will now be passed along to her name sake and grand-daughter.
Thank you again,
This was the first piece of sheet music my mother bought me. On my tenth birthday. It changed my life as I started buying sheet music from then on. No more dull piano lessons. But I can't remember the tune.
My mother who is 88 asked me today if I could find the words to this song. She remembered the tune, but couldn't remember all the words. Thanks.

My sister learned this song when she was in 1st grade at Harmony school in Atoka County, OK. I was 4 years old then and have sung it since. Sang it to all my children (3) and have taped it so they will always remember it. Didn't do too much good as none of them seem to care about it. I, however, love it still.
MY 90 YEAR OLD MOTHER SANG THIS SONG TO ME YESTERDAY WORD FOR WORD AND I HAD NEVER HEARD HER SING IT BEFORE. SHE LOVES IT AND SAID IT BROUGHT BACK GOOD MEMORIES.

My sister, PeggyFinn, and I sang this for a talent contest at the Annual Bonfire and Fireworks on July 4, 1940 in Brighton/Allston, she got a baseball signed by Ted Williams and mine was signed by Joe Cronin.
