He Lyrics
Artist: Righteous Brothers
Album: He
He can turn the tides and calm the angry sea
He alone decides who writes a symphony
He lights ev'ry star that makes the darkness bright
He keeps watch all through each long and lonely night
He still finds the time to hear a child's first prayer
Saint or sinner calls and always finds him there
Though it makes him sad to see the way we live
He'll always say "I forgive"
He can touch a tree and turn the leaves to gold
He knows every lie that you and I have told
Though it makes him sad to see the way we live
He'll always say "I forgive"
He forgives

Comments/Interpretations
thought provoking lyrics like these are rarely written today amd would probably be challenged by the 'aclu' or the likes. how nice to remember the 50's when songs like this could be written, given air-time, and be appreciated by those who believe.
If more lyrics like these were
written, the youth of today would
would not be suffering from apathy.
'aclu' or the likes never had any
direction, nor are they in any position to advocate their own
propaganda. They are far from
wholesome. Self-appointed and self-righteous dictators should
re-evaluate themselves and get used
to the fact that they are insignificant. I find them provoking. Why are they trampling
on the constitutional right of the freedom of speech??? "'aclu',don't push your sick agenda on anyone either!"
i've been searching for this lyrics long time ago after i graduated from catholic school....i just missed the lyrics and the nun who sang it beautifully...thank you........
this doesn't catch the repeat "a child's, a child's first prayer", etc.; in other words, the Righteous version!

Believer--
You're not joking either. In fact, many of these songs, including "He", aren't even heard on Christian and Gospel-themed radio stations anymore, or at least not as much as when such a song was first released. You don't even hear songs like "Why Me", "One Day at A Time", etc. as much as you used to, either, and I just wish the radio stations would play them more often.
Thanks so much for these lyrics. My friend and I want to sing Gospel songs at a nursing home.
it's so nice, thanks a lot!
Thankyou for the lyrics to "He!" I've been wanting them for a long time...Now, do you know the lyrics for "Thankyou" by a choral group in the 60's, (don't remember their name) that sang it. Did the Righteous Brothers sing it,too?
This beautiful song is as beautiful as any hymn you will ever hear in church. A great job by the Righteous Brothers. We miss them.
The 2rd verse has been printed twice. The 3rd verse should read,
"He can touch a tree and turn the leaves to gold,
He knows every lie that you and I have told.
Though it makes him sad to see the way we live,
He'll always say "I forgive.
I forgive!"
this was my Mom's most loved song and I never read the real words thanks so much I wil keep this forever.........she past away 23 years ago.....again thanks.
having had the pleasure of meeting the righteous brothers i can only say that the pleasure of meeting them can only be surpassed by the music they put out. fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the lyrics. I remember hearing this song as a kid and never really paid much attention to the words until I was on my walk today and heard it on my shuffle.
Wow, it really moved me. I will cherish it ALWAYS!!!
the Righteous browther remain my all time favorite recording artist. HE and UNCHAINED MELODY are my long time heart warmers. Will always be.
Thank you so much for making it easy to find the words to "HE". I could only remember some of that song. It is so beautiful and the words are so true. He will forgive if we only ask.
My brothers and I sang this as children along with other children from many churches in our area for the National Methodist Conference many years ago. After that, my Mom would ask us to sing it for friends and family at gatherings. When my mother passed away, we had a man sing it at her funeral. Many of the friends that were there that day had never heard the song before and absolutly loved it. Thanks for the words again, Im of an age that makes it hard to remember the words like I used to be able to do.
HE... BEAUTIFUL SONG, NOT PLAYED ENOUGH SONGS LIKE THESE SHOULD BE PLAYED ON RADIO STATIONS AND SING IN GOSPEL CHURCHES.
Sadly, gone are the days of ole. Before politically correct, before teacher's losing control of their classrooms, before fear, anger, hatred, the need to be right, and pride took hold..... Yes, God/Christ and the spirit of good were present. We are currently and it would appear on a perpetual downward slide... so very sad.
Thanks for the lyrics. Very beautiful words and message. The first time I heard this song was when I bought the Righteous Brothers L.P. a long long time ago. I liked the song from the first hearing but I admit that I never understood all the words. True, songs like this are rarely, if ever, aired. DJ's either never heard them or they lack the courage to do so.Let us hope and pray there will be a rebirth of such wonderful songs.
I love this song! Today I was listening to a church service on Daystar TV. (Shout out for Daystar!) Pastor said, "Turn to Jeremiah 31:34-35." I turned to Jeremiah, immediately thought of "He" this song by the Righteous Bros. I started singing what I remembered of the song and humming the parts I couldn't remember. I came to the computer and looked it up. Very similar to biblical lyrics- read end of 34, all of 35. I invite you to read it for yourself.
