FYI: The old testament was originally meant as a book of fictional writings to teach people morality, then when people took the book to seriously, conmen turned it into a way to control the weak minded and formed a religion using a headman (Jesus) to spread the word, and wrote the new testament. Religion was meant to be a social control mechanism, nothing more. Also I love The Toadies!!!

I dont really care but honestly how hard is it to believe that the Bible is fiction? I think its far more difficult to believe that any story in the Bible is actually true.

I thought the same thing as Alan did...its hard to have faith and not to become a backslider. I dont go to church cause it seems like churches are the most money hungry organizations in the world.

Alan nI would like to know where you got the info that the old testament was supposed to be just a fictional book in the beginning. That sounds like a bunch of b/s, and even if you don't believe in God you don't have to trash another person's beliefs, that is the problem with this world today no one has any real tolerance for others. Anyone sying so matter of factly that christianity is false is a fool since there is no way that you can prove that idea beyond a shadow of a doubt. Believe what you want to believe and don't be so callus and cold hearted.

How hard is it to believe what Alan says? Christians stole all their holidays from pagan religions, and honestly about a thousand years before jesus islamic religion had the same virgin birth die for the sins 3rd day resurrection story. Christianity isn't even original.

You're right Robert, there are only facts. Fact: christianity is mythology. It's people who still hold "faith" who are the true backsliders, ever causing the stagnation of the species.

People who don't believe in the saving power of Jesus, are still living a life of "faith." Faith that their views about life, death, spirituality, eternity, etc. are the "correct" views. Regardless of what you believe, there is an element of faith included somewhere in the line of reasoning. The Bible has over 5,700 handwritten manuscripts, 9,000 in other languages. The closest ancient literature is Homer's "Iliad" with only 643 manuscripts. Very few people ever question the validity of Homer. The manuscripts are places within 25 years of the original writings. Closest comparison in ancient literature is again Homer, some 500 years after the original writings. The Bible contains at least 30 historically confirmed public figures in writings. The is no other ancient source that can make this claim. The Bible contains eyewitness testimony, more manuscript testimony, better manuscript testimony, and earlier manuscript testimony.

Being a police officer I can tell you how much faith you can put I an eye witness testimony. People see what they believe. They are not liars, it just what they either wanted to see or it was something they did not understand and their story is how they made since of it. Now compound that over thousands of years multiple translations and apply the Vatican filter make what changes were necessary for them. People definitely deserve the right to believe what they want but if you never question beliefs, do you ever actually believe them, or are you just playing it "safe" as to not be on fire for eternity?
