Tyler Lyrics
Artist: The Toadies
And she runs through her days with a smile on her face
And she runs, and she waits, and I wait
We can drive to anyplace, day or night, across the state
And in the morning, into Mexico, we will wake up
I find a window in the kitchen, and I let myself in
Rummage through the refrigerator, find myself a beer
I can't believe I'm really here, and she's lying in that bed
I can almost feel her touch, and her anxious breath!
I stumble in the hallway, outside her bedroom door
I hear her call out to me, I hear the fear in her voice
She pulls the covers tighter, I press against the door
I will be with her tonight!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really like this song its off the chain I just really want to know what he's talking bout but other than that this so is amazin fo real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i believe this song was about a series of rapes in tyler, texas. good song ,but creepy meaning.
right on the money elise! not creepy, just observational.
lol ya Toadies started out as a local Texas band, so they wrote songs about what happened in Texas. =D
This is a cult classic song from The Toadies "Rubberneck" album. It is a song about obsession and his fear of rejection. It is not about rape, however. A lot of the "Rubberneck" album is dark and is based on Todd Vaden Lewis' relationships. Toadies disbanded and Vaden started a new band called The Burden Brothers, and "Tyler" was frequently requested to play but obviously the band would not. It is in my mind The Toadies best song ever. One of my top 3 songs ever.
Lots of mistakes here..."..day and night, to cross this state" "I found her window in the kitchen, where i let myself in" ... "poured myself a beer" Almost a perfect lovesong, if it weren't for the dark undertones. But nonetheless a perfect song...Toadies at their best...best 45 minute album in the era. Pure genius.
Yeah SpecialK they are from Fort Worth. Reppin FuNkYtOwN!!!!!$$$
This is my ALL time favorite song!!! I can even play it on the guitar!!! This song is pure f-ing genius!!!!
I used to go watch them in the dive bar of all dive bars called The Crossing. It was in the darkest part of Fort Worth, and was actually BYOB. They rocked. I always thought this song was about rape, but I thought it said "I stumbled into her way," not hallway, so my bad.
best song ever and they are def rad live
So someone asked me to lisen to this before i left town, i three weeks later i really lisened to it and feel like a idiot now my question is, is it totally creepy or amazingly romantic?
yeah its about a rapist from tyler, texas
toadies actually got started in possum kingdom in texas which is a nice lake community north of fort worth and the song is about the rapes in tyler not his relationships
the song is about raping a girl
...that's funny it's a song about rape. i mean, i've liked the song for years, and now after reading the lyrics, i understand why i like it so much...
Fucking loved this song since it came out! It kicks so much ass! And the lyrics, awesome!
I love this song! Its about a psycho stalker in my hometown of Tyler, TX.
i love this song, i love how it sounds, its awesome, been stuck in my head all day. kinda sad, but i love the point of view it has. i dont agree with S Landess at all, i think its about rape too
I believe it's a song about a pysiopath fantasizing about rape. Probably not really based on a true story, although I guess it's possible. Either way it's just amazing.
Toadies are amazing!!!! favorite song by them and amazing live!! i live like 15min from tyler tx!!
I was at Dia De Los Toadies 3 about 10 days ago. During the Friday acoustic show, Vaden Todd Lewis explained the song is in fact about an "Urban Legend" or stories about a peeping Tom in Tyler, TX. In writing the song, he pretty much wrote it from the point of view of the peeping Tom and filled in the blanks or as he said it, "Just made the rest of it up", suggesting that peeping Tom was graduating to rape. That's as explained by Todd Lewis on stage.
Genius,
