@Josmith He's not dead. He's returned a bag of groceries taken off the shelf before they expired, and he himself believes that he may or may not have expired himself, but is not sure.

The groceries is a metaphor. It's about a guy who did something bad accidentally and his girlfriend broke up with him, and he is the bag of groceries, dead, waiting on the shelf for someone special.
