World Is A Ghetto Lyrics
Artist: War
Walkin' down the street, smoggy-eyed
Looking at the sky, starry-eyed
Searchin' for the place, weary-eyed
Crying in the night, teary-eyed
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
Wonder when I'll find paradise
Somewhere there's a home sweet and nice
Wonder if I'll find happiness
Never give it up now I guess
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
------ long instrumental break ------
There's no need to search anywhere
Happiness is here, have your share
If you know you're loved, be secure
Paradise is love to be sure
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
Don't you know that it's true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto
(The world is a ghetto)

this song rocks
This is one of my favourites songs of all time ... remember was the first LP my older brother bought when my dad bought a "new" radiola (radio + vynil discs players) about the early 70s ... great band, music, time !
Damn dis be all good, blow my mind and all
Well, i do agree with Oscar. When i was just a little kid in Athens, Greece (around 1974-5), a friend of mine had a tape with the same-titled album. He was also an electronic genious (just 15 years old) and he made an amplifier all by himself, so the guy was the king in our parties! (Unfortunatelly he died 6-7 years ago in the USA). The album contained two long songs, Four Cornered Room and The World is a Ghetto, one after the other, so when we liked a girl we were asking her to dance non-stop for about 20 minutes. Romantic? Yes, just kids, but even now - i'm nearly 50 - this song makes me shiver.
I chose this song for a project I had to do. I thought is was going to be an uninterested song, but turns out I love it! I listened to it Back-to back. Even though I grew up in the 90s and growing up in a different music setting, I still love the oldies. This is now one of my new favorite songs. It has taught me something new about the world and its problems...we're all the same! whether rich or poor, famous or normal we all have problems to face in life in this "ghetto" world.
walked outside my apt today and this song pops to mind how long ago but so true.........
This song is forty years old and still relevant today. There are so many songwriters who are classed as great who have never written anything so meaningful or long lasting. Truly a great lyric that deserves more recognition.
War is truly a fantastic group of musicians, writers, and singers. The "World is a Ghetto" album is forever a classic. I still play their songs almost forty years after college.
This song meant to be, sure take my spirit/mind and feelings a state of heaven. I can feel it and dwell within it. Just let it take you away and you know what I am talking about. It's call love.
I remember the song when it first came out. It was just another song.
I was on an ore boat on the Great Lakes. Recently I read "Mass Incarceration" and I found there a book called "The world is a ghetto"-- the history of racism around the world. Both powerful books.
this is a song that's a wake up call i mean nothing's going to get better until god's kingdom is here so hello! of course the world is going to be a ghetto.
I am from India, And found this LP in my dads collection long long years ago.
I still brings tears to my eyes...
