worst song ever written!!
david your a doushebag
got'a love it
I used to listen to this when I was a kid more than 30 years ago...it was my dad's music. War has a lot of good songs.
Best song ever written!
Good Tune
This song came out before I was born; Cisco kid is by far my most favorite song of all time... especially with the music now a days.
One of the best ever! Music was good back then...
Brian, I completely agree. david, get a life, or at least some taste in music. Nick, I agree. I mean that in the nicest way. djdi, O yeah. Strange lyrics but what a groove.
These song rocks so much man gotta love Oldies, now music can't never beat that!
Absolutely one of the all-time best songs ever! I was at Harold Brown's house one Sunday evening and he played a "new track" for us and played drums along with it. I instantly loved it. That was a few months before the song was released and it just happened to be Cisco Kid. By the way, Harold was the greatest and nicest person I have ever met in my entire life and I am now 60. Music comes and goes but Cisco Kid will live forever...
HORRENDOUS
What a groove! If you don't like this classic, you need to figure out how to get a clue, and get a life.
One of the best tunes ever written! My older sister gave me this album (my first, "The World Is A Ghetto")when I was 13. Thanks Sis!!!!
Calling it the best song ever is a stretch, but it certainly is classic War. Love that percussion.
Lyrics are way off. Are you people in Czech Republic or what?
nice tune
Great percussions
Cisco kid was indeed a good freind of mine.
im luvin it
he said douchebag!!!
I remember listening to this song as a little kid. Lyrics are goofy, but I love the song.
Wow!! Yes the lyrics are a little crazy, buttttt still a cool song. Think about it...what year was this song released?? Sometime in the 60's right??? What an era for great music ! Listening to WAR still makes people grooove even now ! Wish they were still around !!! I know I'de go see em'.
great song!!!! but kinda repetitive, but still totally awesome!!!!!
:)
Rainman wrote it, obviously.
Good vib
i love this song sooo much it reminds me of my cousin carlos a.k.a. cisko kid
true rebels drinking song
For you "kids" "The Cisco Kid" was a tv serial from the late '50s.
This serial t.v. program was great and i enjoyed a lot together with my younger brothers when we came from school.Nowadays I´m fifty seven THANKS GOD My e-mail dala2451@hotmail.com
David, you obviously never heard "Silly Love Songs,", by Paul MacCartney. Worst song in history, except maybe "Ebony and Ivory."
This is a great song! The proof is it's staying power. We are still talking about it. Will you do anything that the world will talk about so many years later? This is a self-assessment as much as a comment on you. But THIS IS A GREAT SONG!
I bought this album back in '72 with my allowance. Took my whole $5... but was worth every dime! "Cisco Kid", "The World is A Ghetto", "City, Country, City", it is the bomb! They just don't make 'em like this anymore!
I Love War. This was an awesome group. I grew up listening to War. My dad use to Listen to the group all the time.
I sing it every time we ride bikes through a gorge on the Yough Trail in PA. I thought it was pinned down at the gorge instead of fort. Oh well, I make up my own words to fit. What fun!
This was real music..you got to love it far beyond what's out here today. You actually can understand the lyrics even if they are repetitive.
the line is not
Chased a gringo last night through a field
chased a gringo rustler through a field
rustler=cattle thief
"Eat the salted peanuts out of can" is lyric gold, like you could roll up and pass to the left.....
this song is on the movie "Taxi"
This was my dad's favorite song growing up. He wanted to name me after the cisco kid. The good ole days!!!
I love this song. What I can't find is what is it that Poncho says after "Chased a gringo last night through a field", and then again a short time later. I've been wondering for years!
DbrianP~ Poncho asks in Spanish for "Cisco to pass the bottle"...
It's obvious, at least to this gal, that there are still some people in this world who still believe all songs must be ballad, rhyme, and the lyrics must make sense in order for a song to be considered "good" or worthy of being liked or listened to *sigh* di none of us learn anything from the late John Lennon?
i love that song
I love it. Rhythmical masterpiece, lyrically infantile. It is not Pancho it is Pancho (Villa). Poncho is a Mexican robe.
The world is a Ghetto!!! War is a great funk band.
Going to be here in Toledo this Friday night! Outdoor show, smoke 'the devil's lettuce' if you got it!
Actual lyrics:
Met down on the border of Rio Grande....
Chased the gringo rustlers through a field...
Just saw War in Chicago last week. So much fun!
It's a chilling song (and I don't mean relaxing).
di none of us learn anything from the late John Lennon?
holy shit - this HAS to be a joke - right ?
A great tune from 1975. This and Low Rider.
HMMMM. OUTLAWS and Horses made of steel. Maybe the song was about the Outlaws and the Bandidos!!!
One of my favorites as a teenager!
I like DJ Shadow's version of this track :) Check :)
tikiman is correct. imagine a repetitive song. do any of you remember the "cisco kid" western from the 50's - classic - oh poncho, oh cisco!
Love this song. It reminds me of my brother. He played War music over and over, so he earned the nickname Cisco Kid. He's listed as Cisco Kid in my BlackBerry, and I have this song as his ringer.
I listened to this song as a kid and I still luv it
Grooved to this back in the day and still groovin to it
Every singer subs their own verion of the lyrics. This is a great tune with good lyrics. In a bar in 1975 in Fort Atkinson Wisc, this song was played over and over along with Lash LaRue by Starbuck. This was at Johnny "K's" bar. Local bands played these 2 songs and "Panama Red"
Cisco kid was a friend o'mine
drink your blood jus like it was wine...
anymore lyrics, mus-be.
The misses and I used to dance to this all the time.
This song is about the old TV show from way back. It was in black and white so it was really back in the day. When War put this song out, all of us old heads loved it and still do.
It's a great song with lame lyrics... but there's no shame in that! This track is more about groovin and singing along. There's room in this world for all kinds of songs to love. I have a taste for peanuts.
growingupa chicano vatoin this countr, thecicokidwasoursunday morning hero on tv;biggerthan tonto.
ArRrOo!!!! Hahahaha! Outlaw rule.
I love this kind of songs. I love to fine more songs like this one.
If any one can help text me names of the song to LILTHUNDERWOLF on airg
I like the tune- memories! Believe it says-
"met down on the border Rio Grande".( Rio Grande river marks Texas - Mexico line)
and
"chased gringo rustler" sounds right to me also and makes better sense
ahs no eenglish lit maj but da lyric rhyme & sequence to Wars Cisco Kid iza "Collosus of Rhodes"
Wrong lyrics! Someone better try again.
OHHHHHHH CISSSCOOOO !
Poncho and Cisco were actually both friends of mine and I'm hoping this song isn't about them- it will take on an entirely new meaning for me if it is. Cecilia-from L.A.- and we grew up together.
Great Song!
For me the best song ever written. It's a classic.
Best song ever written, It's a classic
Great show! The Cisco Kid was my grandmothers favorite western back in the 50's. we used to sit and watch it together.
This is one of the worst songs my ears have ever encountered. A monkey could write these lyrics.
GREAT song - one of the best!
Great song growing up in 70's. War was a great group. Great singers and musicians. I like how they incorporate the East L.A. latio influence. Great outdoor show in Houston July 4th. Remember "The World is a Ghetto" best album 1973.
chase the gringo rustlter thru the field not chase the gringo last nite thru the field.
"we met down on the FORD, Rio G."
they had to ford the river.
chased the gringo bastards through the field. Cisco was an outlaw. the gringo bastards were the Law.
"we met down on the FORD, Rio G."
they had to ford the river.
chased the gringo bastards through the field. Cisco was an outlaw. the gringo bastards were the Law.
the Bridge: DIE, DIE, DIE!!
I am trying to get the translation for the spanish background lyrics.. (pancho speaking?)
What's up with this peanut line?
Gotta laugh at the people who took the time out of their day to find this website and leave an angry comment. This is a fantastic song, and it will continue to be appreciated long after our bodies have been decomposed. If you're reading this, you likely have a phenomenal taste in music. If so, keep the speakers blasting and keep eating the salted peanuts out the can ;)
I believe the line is actually, "Chased the griingo RUSTLERS through the field." It was common for gringos, bandits north of the Rio, to go down to Mexico and rustle cattle, then bring them north to Texas to sell.
I also believe the line is "We met down at the BORDER, Rio Grande." The river WAS the border.
But heck, what do I know? I've only been listening to this song for forty-five years. War had some great tunes, like "Lo Rider" and "The World is a Ghetto." They spoke to people of their time in words that still resonate, with music from their roots. Try and find another better rock song about outlaws. Maybe only Willie comes close, with his "Pancho and Lefty" tune.
